Welcome to Orscheln Farm and Home Stores,
My family has been in the retail business since
November, 1960. That’s when my grandfather,
W.C. Orscheln, known by friends and family as “the
Colonel” opened the first Orscheln Farm and Home
store in Sedalia, Missouri with a vision of supplying rural
American families with products they needed to live,
enjoy and thrive in the outdoor, farm, ranch and
rural lifestyle.
Shortly after opening the Sedalia store, the Colonel
hired his son, Gerald A. (Jerry) Orscheln, to grow the
business. Together with the Colonel’s experience, Jerry’s
vision and the tremendous talents of our employees, Orscheln Farm and Home
stores opened across rural America with products needed to run small family farms,
ranches, and homes. By 2003, under Jerry’s leadership, Orscheln Farm and Home
grew to 85 stores.
Today, Orscheln Farm and Home serves farm, home, ranch and suburban
customers with over 150 stores located in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma,
Nebraska, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana. Though our numbers have grown, the Orscheln
Family values and traditions remain the same. It is our goal and responsibility to honor the
tradition and achievements of my grandfather and uncle by ensuring that Orscheln Farm
and Home continues to meet the needs of our rural customers as well as those of a new
generation of Americans seeking a touch of the rural lifestyle, no matter where they live.
To help our customers continue to live and enjoy the outdoor, farm, ranch and rural
lifestyle, even if living in suburbia, our product offerings have grown to include lawn and
garden, farm supplies, livestock feed, animal health, pet food and supplies, hardware,
plumbing, electrical, automotive, toys, housewares, work and western clothing, and in
select locations - sporting goods.
Today, the Orscheln Family along with our President, Stephen Chick, and our fine team
of knowledgeable, experienced associates are poised and ready to serve you in your
local Orscheln Farm and Home store. We look forward to seeing you there.
William L. Orscheln, CEO
